AI-based autotracking improves monitoring reliability
Recently, Distributor CCTV Jakarta have been able to deal with the enormous streams of information they need to monitor, thereby successfully fulfilling their monitoring responsibilities. This is achieved through the use of PTZ cameras with an autotracking function based on artificial intelligence. It is implemented, in particular, in the new Wisenet cameras manufactured by Hanwha Techwin.
As a result of the transfer of auto-tracking to artificial intelligence, the operator can more effectively monitor any suspicious object that finds itself in his area of responsibility. This allows you to more reliably suppress criminal and antisocial activities. Uri Guterman, Head of Product and Marketing at Hanwha Techwin Europe, explains how AI-powered autotracking works.
PTZ cameras and auto tracking
The ability to track and manually track a moving object has been around since the introduction of PTZ cameras several decades ago. For this, the operator, using a joystick, mouse or keyboard, controlled the panning, tilting and zooming of the camera.
The value of PTZ cameras has increased with the introduction of automatic tours to predefined positions. Now the camera could be programmed to scan the scene itself. This allowed the operator to concentrate on meaningfully monitoring the overall situation.
A significant improvement in surveillance was achieved in 2008 when several manufacturers, including Hanwha Techwin, released PTZ cameras with auto-tracking functionality. Such a camera itself accompanies the object in its field of view. The function is activated manually by the operator or automatically by video analytics or by alarm.
AI-powered autotracking
And now, a noticeable leap in the development of technology has raised the efficiency of auto-tracking to a new level. A generation of television cameras has emerged in which high-precision video analytics, built on a deep learning algorithm, captures a person or a car when it enters the frame, and then constantly adjusts the camera, ensuring tracking. In this case, no action is required from the operator. Video analytics works completely autonomously, although the operator can take control of the tracking process at any time.
AI-based autotracking is highly accurate - it is not confused by video noise, swaying tree branches, flying clouds or running animals. Simply put, this video analytics ignores these types of false alarms, which are quite common in video surveillance systems, and only monitors people and vehicles. Such a powerful tool helps operators to control the situation in open spaces, examples of which are airports, parking lots, industrial sites, stadiums, city squares.
One of the main differences between AI-based autotracking is the ability to determine the type of object: a person or a car. This allows you to configure the camera so that, for example, it accompanies only people and ignores cars, or vice versa.
In addition, the operator can designate a favorite object for tracking. To do this, he just needs to right-click on the image of a moving object on the monitor and thus capture it for tracking. After that, the camera will follow only this selected object, ignoring the rest.
Wisenet X PTZ PLUS Cameras
AI-based autotracking is implemented in the advanced Wisenet X PTZ PLUS series IP cameras from Hanwha Techwin. They are based on the new, powerful Wisenet7 chipset. This makes them a valuable tool for building CCTV systems for viewing large areas and for perimeter security.
Wisenet X PTZ PLUS cameras are available in 2 or 6 megapixel or 4K resolution. All models have manual PTZ control, precise presets and an extended tilt up to 110 °, which allows you to track objects located above the camera. The IR illumination used in them is adaptive: it automatically focuses on the object. This allows you to obtain a high-quality image of an object at a distance of up to 200 meters even in poor lighting conditions. Another important property of these cameras is their support for the Handover function.
Handover function
The Handover function of Wisenet brand cameras allows multiple adjacent cameras to “transmit” a subject to each other. When he leaves the field of view of one camera, the next receives a signal about this and rotates to a predetermined position. Thus, the cameras track the subject continuously within their total field of view. All this also happens automatically, without the participation of the operator. As a result, the monitoring center minimizes the risk that any criminal activity will go unnoticed or recorded.
